MMEE2024 Mathematical Models in Ecology and Evolution

I am happy to announce that I will be presenting at the MMEE-2024 (Mathematics, Models, and Experiments in Ecology and Evolution) symposium. The event will take place from July 15 to July 18, 2024, at the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Vienna, located at Oskar-Morgenstern-Platz 1, 1090 Vienna.

Event Details:

  • Date: 15 to 18 July 2024
  • Location: Faculty of Mathematics, University of Vienna, Oskar-Morgenstern-Platz 1, 1090 Vienna
  • Symposium: Self-organization in systems of interacting agents
  • Time: 10:15 - 12:00
  • Room: HS09

Agenda:

  • Michael Fischer: "Flocking models in social sciences"
  • Gaspard Jankowiak: "A mean-field approximation for network-based opinion dynamics"
  • Leo Meyer: "Two species model of interacting agents: an application to neuron migration"
  • Carmela Moschella: "Vicsek-Kuramoto system in collective dynamics and their macroscopic equations"

I am particularly looking forward to Leo Meyer’s talk, which will highlight our collaborative project with the biology department. This interdisciplinary project investigates neuron migration using a two-species model of interacting agents. He will present an application of this model to the study of neuron migration in the cortex, where interneurons migrate in a direction that seems to be given by a second population of cells : astrocytes. This leads to enriching the first model with an alignment property of the two species.
